Netflix will start shipping these titles starting this week: 50/50, Real Steel, Final Destination 5, Paranormal Activity 3, Restless, The Woman, Revenge of the Electric Car and Another Happy Day

For next week (Jan 31st), upcoming titles are: Contagion, Drive, Shark Night, Outrage, The Double* and Janie Jones

* The Double with Richard Gere is is also scheduled to start streaming on that day: 31st Jan

Netflix New DVD Releases for 10th Jan, 2012

New Titles on DVD that Netflix will start shipping from Jan 10th include: Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Moneyball, Higher Ground and In My Sleep.



New Titles on DVD starting next week, i.e. week of Jan 17th include: The Ides of March, Abduction, Dolphin Tale, Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star, Courageous and Dirty Girl.

Streaming Central is now the #1 visited page on the site. Here’s a tip to get even more out of this page: if you see titles on there that you want to watch as soon as they become available on Netflix Streaming, just click on the ‘Remind’ button and you’ll get an email alert the day Netflix makes it available for Instant Watch. Funny movies returned faster, Serious ones kept home longer?

Do you think the number of days you take to watch a movie and return the DVD to Netflix is an indication of that movie’s gravitas? Curious? Read on…

Some few weeks ago, The New Yorker reached out to FeedFliks for some data on Netflix rental patterns: specifically, they were interested in seeing if users tend to watch and return ‘light’ movies faster while they sit on ‘heavier’ titles for somewhat longer. The article is called What we can learn from Procrastination. It turned out that there was something to their theory and that in fact a light-hearted movie like The Proposal was returned in an average of 9.6 days while a more serious movie like Gran Torino sat at home for 13.1 days. It’s a very interesting article and certainly worth reading, or, ironically enough, for bookmarking to read later.
